As an organisation dedicated to protecting patient rights, improving the patient experience and overall health, our goal is to ensure you can access the medicines you need.
As the national grassroots voice of Australians living with chronic pain and key advocates in ensuring the voices of these people are heard, we stand with affordable medicines reform to protect the health of over 19 million Australians.
Affordable Medicines Now is asking Canberra to lower the cost of prescription
medicines for over 19 million Australians who don't qualify for a concession card.
The cost of prescription medicines rises on January 1st every year and has doubled
since the year 2000. At the current rate, the general patient cohort could be paying
almost $50 per prescription for medicines they need to stay healthy. For example,
blood-thinning medication for someone who has had a stroke, or insulin for people
living with type 1 diabetes.
Your organisation's support will directly influence the government's response to
this issue which caused more than 900,000 Australians to delay or forgo a
prescription due to cost in 2019-20.
We hope you join us in protecting the health of all Australians.
